Chelsea Football Club turns 120 years old today and marking the occasion we have a special celebration video for supporters to enjoy…
The video, which can be viewed below, encapsulates our colourful history and the pioneering spirit that in 1905 led to the formation of a club to play in the best new stadium in the land. Chelsea has continued to shape, grow, and advance the game ever since.
Fuelled by London’s creative spirit, we have innovated and pushed boundaries throughout the decades. We were the first club to average more than 40,000 in home league attendances across a season, and we also launched football’s first magazine-style matchday programme.
Our first youth system was groundbreaking and in 1970 the Blues attracted a new record UK TV audience for a club match. We were the first British club to have a Black manager lift a major trophy and the first to win four major UEFA club competitions twice.
Chelsea has continued to push women’s football to a new level with five consecutive WSL titles, paving the way for the future of the game.
Marking today’s milestone and the Chelsea story so far, there will be celebrations at matches, an exhibition at Saatchi Gallery, special series on our media channels, stadiums, merchandise, the CFC Awards 2025 and more.
