The Barclays FA Women’s Super League has nominated Emma Hayes for Manager of the Month for a third consecutive time and Millie Bright for Player of the Month. You can cast your vote to help them win.

The Blues are unbeaten thus far in the 2019/20 campaign having won six and drawn one in the WSL. In November Chelsea won both of our league matches having edged past Manchester United 1-0 and put six past Birmingham City.

Chelsea met league newcomers Man United mid-November in front of 4790 spectators at Kingsmeadow, a record figure for a WSL game not played at a men’s stadium. Maren Mjelde slotted home her second-half spot-kick which resulted in our first ever victory against the Red Devils.

Hayes’ side then made the trip up to the Midlands to face league strugglers Birmingham City and we recorded our biggest victory of the season with a six-goal haul. Ji So-Yun and Bright both scored a goal apiece, while both Bethany England and Drew Spence each bagged a brace to keep us top of the league in November.

The Blues were due to play against Everton on Sunday 1 December, but unfortunately the match was postponed due to frozen pitch in Southport.

Other manager nominees are: Nick Cushing (Manchester City), Willie Kirk (Everton) and Joe Montemurro (Arsenal).

The award is decided by a combination of votes from a panel and fans, and you can vote for Hayes here

Centre-back Bright showcased her attacking ability when she netted her first goal of the campaign against Birmingham with a well-timed run and finish, having charged out of defence to start the attack. The defender then turned provider for her team-mate Bethany England, fizzing a dream of a pass to the No.9, who killed it with her first touch and finished with her second.

The Chelsea vice-captain also played a key part in the Blues’ landmark day against Manchester United when she made a heroic off-the-line clearance in the final moments of the clash to ensure we finished with maximum points.
