Estevao Willian is enjoying a first season to remember at Chelsea so far, and you can read an exclusive interview with our Brazilian prodigy in the programme tomorrow evening.
The 18-year-old discusses his journey to this point and how he has settled in at Stamford Bridge, not to mention that crucial late winner against Liverpool.
'There was so much emotion,' he explains, 'and it was just incredible to experience that explosion of joy from the crowd – to see the fans celebrating right there, so close to the pitch.
'You realise that the goal was so important to give them something to celebrate at the end of the game. So it was a spectacular moment, and very exciting for me.'
With this being our 18th competitive game against Barcelona – the most we have played any overseas opposition – we also chart the history of this tie and look in depth at the impact of Catalan players at Chelsea in our ‘Over Land & Sea’ feature.
This game falls on the second anniversary of Terry Venables’ death, making it the ideal time to reflect on the impact he had at both clubs.
After coming through the ranks to captain a youthful Chelsea side under Tommy Docherty, Venners achieved promotion back to the top flight and won the League Cup here at the height of the Swinging Sixties.
Two decades later, he put his great footballing wisdom to use in the Barcelona dugout, leading them to the Liga title in his first season as manager, and agonisingly missing out on guiding them to their first European Cup in 1986, after suffering penalty shoot-out heartbreak at the hands of underdogs Steaua Bucharest. We tell the full story in our Legacy feature.
