A fourth match date for the pre-season preparations for our men’s team is announced today with the news the Blues will be playing AC Milan in the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

The game is the second confirmed for Asia this summer. It joins our match against Juventus in Hong Kong in following on from two fixtures in Sydney, Australia.

Chelsea versus AC Milan in Jakarta will take place on Saturday 8 August with a 7pm kick-off (local time) at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium.

The Blues are back

The fixture comes 13 years after our first-ever visit to Indonesia. On that hugely memorable occasion, the squad received one of the most passionate welcomes ever for a touring Chelsea side.

Tens of thousands of fans were there to meet them at the airport and lined the whole route into the city, many following the coaches on motor vehicles.

When it came to the match itself, over 80,000 vociferous supporters were inside the same stadium as will be used this August. They saw Chelsea beat an Indonesia All-Stars side 8-1 with Eden Hazard and John Terry among the goalscorers.

Reacquainted with the Rossoneri

The 2026 opposition, AC Milan, have been one of the teams the Blues have faced most often in pre-season matches this century, but the game in Jakarta will be the first-ever Chelsea match against the Serie A giants held in Asia.

With the current FIFA Club World Cup holders and twice Champions League winners going head-to-head with the seven-time European champions, and with a new trophy to be contested on the day, Saturday 8 August will be a historic date for football fans in Indonesia.
