Aggie Beever-Jones completed a 33-minute hat-trick for England on her Wembley debut and was joined on the scoresheet by Lucy Bronze as the Lionesses romped to a 5-0 win over Portugal, while Sandy Baltimore also netted for France.
Hannah Hampton, Keira Walsh, Lucy Bronze and Aggie Beever-Jones were all named in Sarina Wiegman's starting lineup for England's Nations League clash against Portugal.
To the delight of the home crowd, the Lionesses raced to a 2-0 lead after just five minutes. The first came when Beever-Jones – on her Wembley debut – pounced on a loose ball just outside the box, and she showed perfect composure to drive forward, steady herself and slot the ball beyond goalkeeper Ines Pereira.
Minutes later, another of our stars found the back of the net. Some superb work from Lauren Hemp found Beever-Jones and her deflected shot was followed up by Beth Mead. That effort was saved, and Bronze made one of her trademark headers to score at the far post.
Bronze and Beever-Jones then combined perfectly for England's third. A deep cross swung in from the Chelsea right-back met the striker, who had moved instinctually to be in the perfect position to bag her second of the night.
The Lionesses were on the rampage. Beth Mead grabbed the fourth of the night before the half hour mark, and Beever-Jones delivered her hat-trick after just 33 minutes when she dribbled the ball down the right and fired another low shot beyond Pereira.
Bronze was replaced by Maya Le Tissier just before Chloe Kelly added the sixth following some slick build-up play from England.
The plaudits will fall to Beever-Jones though. Her hat-trick came on her first-ever start for England and she became only the second Lioness to score three goals at Wembley after Beth Mead did so in October 2021.
Over in France, Sandy Baltimore continued her rich vein of form with a goal after 19 minutes for Les Bleues. Kadidiatou Diani picked out the the Chelsea star unmarked in the area as she turned the ball in at the far post. She played out 61 minutes of the 4-0 win over Switzerland, while Oriane Jean-Francois was an unused substitute.
Sjoeke Nusken played all 90 minutes as Germany romped to a 4-0 win over Netherlands in Nations League action. Wieke Kaptein also featured for the full match but was on the losing side this time around. That result saw Germany move to the top of Group A1 by three points over second-placed Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Guro Reiten came off the bench after 76 minutes for Norway, before an 83rd minute own goal from Glodis Perla Viggosdottir saw them fight back from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Iceland.
Erin Cuthbert made her 75th appearance for Scotland at Hampden Park as Scotland took on Austria. Things looked promising for new boss Melissa Andreatta during the first hour, but after 62 minutes Austria struck as Julia Hickelsberger scored the only goal in a narrow 1-0 win.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Nathalie Bjorn both started for Sweden as they played out a 0-0 draw with Italy in Nations League action. Bjorn received a yellow card after 39 minutes and her Chelsea team-mate Rytting Kaneryd was withdrawn in the 93rd minute at the Stadio Ennio Tardini in Parma.
The point suited Sweden more than the home side, as they maintained their two-point gap at the top of Group A4.
Earlier in the day, Mayra Ramirez played the first 82 minutes of Colombia's 1-0 friendly win over South Korea.
