Sam Kerr found the net for Australia as they progressed in the FIFA Series, while Becky Spencer’s clean sheet helped Jamaica take a step closer to Concacaf W Championship qualification.

Australia opened their first FIFA Series campaign by taking on Malawi in Kenya and were captained to a comprehensive 5-0 victory by Kerr.

It took the Matildas a while to get going despite controlling the match throughout and taking an early lead through Emily Van Egmond after just five minutes.

It took until five minutes before half-time for Australia to extend that lead, when Kerr met a Caitlin Foord cross from the right on the half-volley to make it 2-0 by the break.

Australia made it 3-0 after an hour and added another with four minutes left, before debutant Leticia McKenna put the icing on the cake by scoring on her first appearance, making it 5-0 deep into added time.

The Matildas will now face the winner of hosts Kenya’s match against India in the FIFA Series final in Nairobi on Wednesday 15 April.

Goalkeeper Spencer kept a clean sheet to help Jamaica record a statement 4-0 win over Antigua and Barbuda, taking them a step closer to qualification for a trio of tournaments.

In the preliminary rounds for the 2026 Concacaf W Championship, the Reggae Girlz made it three wins from as many games, putting them three points clear at the top of Group B. They now need just a draw in their last game with Guyana to guarantee a spot at the final tournament, which in turn serves as the qualifiers for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup and Olympic Games.

However, for all Jamaica’s dominance they spurned early chances and were grateful for a Spencer double-save when Antigua and Barbuda got in behind their defence, keeping the scores goalless.

The home side finally took the lead in Kingston in first-half stoppage time, when Khadija Shaw converted a penalty to open the floodgates. By the 56th minute, the Manchester City forward had completed a hat-trick and Jamaica were cruising to victory, adding a fourth goal with another penalty late on for good measure.

Spencer and her compatriots will conclude the Concacaf W Qualifiers at home against Guyana, in a match which kicks off at 1am UK time on Sunday 19 April.
