Emiliano Martinez and Valentin Barco played in Argentina’s first game since the World Cup final as they thrashed Bolivia 4-0 in a friendly in Cordoba.

Martinez played the full 90 minutes and enjoyed a quiet evening in goal. He made one save, with Argentina dominating possession and territory throughout, and finished with the captain's armband.

This summer’s runners-up led 2-0 at half-time courtesy of goals from Lautaro Martinez and Nico Paz, and they extended their advantage shortly after the restart through Cristian Romero.

Barco was then introduced on 56 minutes, replacing Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni on the left flank. The 22-year-old, fresh from his full Premier League debut, brought energy and intensity to Argentina’s play, with a fourth goal added from Flaco Lopez late on.

Argentina’s second and final friendly of this international window is against Burkina Faso on Saturday evening local time.
