Marc Cucurella started for Spain as La Roja secured their place in the UEFA Nations League final with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Malo Gusto's France.
Nico Williams put Spain ahead in the 22nd minute of the contest. The Athletic Club winger produced a thunderous drive after being teed up by Mikel Oyarzabal. A second goal arrived soon after as Mikel Merino guided a shot home from close range.
That's how it stayed until the interval. Seven goals then followed during a breathless second 45 minutes.
Spain added to their lead when Lamine Yamal won and converted a penalty after being fouled by Adrien Rabiot. Pedri then struck a fourth of the night for the reigning Nations League champions.
Kylian Mbappe temporarily reduced the deficit from the penalty spot, and Gusto was introduced just after the hour mark. The Chelsea full-back replaced Pierre Kalulu, but Spain quickly added a fifth as Yamal poked the ball home after breaking into the France box.
The score remained at 5-1 until the 79th minute. Then came an unexpected surge from Didier Deschamps' side.
Rayan Cherki was the man who began it; he drove home an exquisite volley from 20 yards on his debut. Gusto then forced Dani Vivian to turn the ball into his own net with a wicked delivery across the six-yard box.
In stoppage time, Randal Kolo Muani headed home from a pinpoint Cherki cross, but France had left themselves too much to do.
So, it's Cucurella and Spain that will face Portugal – and Pedro Neto – in Sunday's final in Munich. Kick-off is at 8pm (BST). Germany will be France's opponents in the third-place play-off. That match takes place at 2pm on Sunday at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart.
