Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez was introduced as a second-half substitute as Argentina continued their World Cup preparations with a friendly against Honduras in the early hours of Sunday.

The Albiceleste turned out in front of over 91,000 supporters at Kyle Field in Texas to play their penultimate friendly before they face Algeria in their opening World Cup match at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on 17 June.

And, to the delight of the fans, a 37th-minute Lautaro Martinez penalty, followed by a goal from Giuliano Simeone just after the break, saw Argentina take a 2-0 advantage over their Honduran opponents.

Head coach Lionel Scaloni then took the opportunity to make a triple substitution after an hour had passed, bringing on Fernandez for Thiago Almada, as well as switching Giovanni Lo Celso for Alexis MacAllister and Martinez for Jose Manuel Lopez.

From there, the team saw out the 2-0 victory, chalking up a win before their final friendly against Iceland at the Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama.
