Tyrique George’s excellent finish from an equally impressive Jamie Gittens assist maintained England Under-21s' spotless record in qualifying for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
The Young Lions have been in good form as they chase a spot in the 2027 tournament and that continued on Monday evening when they made it three wins from as many games, thanks to a fine strike by the Chelsea forward.
George and Gittens were in the starting line-up for England Under-21s when they took on Andorra at Pride Park in Derby, while Josh Acheampong remained on the bench.
George and Gittens had both threatened right from the start, going close on several occasions, and the rebound from a blocked Gittens shot briefly looked like it had led to the lead, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Although the home side were in control throughout the match, just a solitary goal separated the sides at the final whistle. But it was a worthy winner, as the two Chelsea players combined to devastating effect just before half-time.
Gittens beat two defenders out on the left with a brilliant step-over and nutmeg before finding George in the box. The latter made no mistake, smashing a left-footed shot into the roof of the net from a tight angle.
That means England have now scored seven goals without conceding, with a 100 per cent record in Euros qualifying, leaving them two points clear at the top of Group D.
