Blues defender Naomi Girma started an international match as captain for the first time as USA recorded a 4-0 win over Jamaica in St. Louis.
This was only Girma’s second international start in 2025 following her struggles with injury at the beginning of the year. With the win over Jamaica, she helped to deliver back-to-back clean sheets following the 3-0 win over China on Friday, her 27th overall in 44 starts for her national side.
Striker Catarina Macario was also named in Emma Hayes’ starting XI for the friendly encounter that became a very one-sided affair.
Macario played the opening 57 minutes as Canada raced to a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Ally Sentnor before being replaced by veteran Lynn Biyendolo, who also scored twice in the final half an hour.
With an 82 per cent possession rate and 23 shots fired on goal compared with Jamaica's two, the USA were dominant in their 4-0 win.
The side will remain on home soil for their friendlies this summer, with a double-header against Republic of Ireland scheduled for the end of June and an Allstate Continental Clasico fixture with Canada in Washington D.C. to be played on July 3.
