Kai Havertz, Mykhailo Mudryk and Hakim Ziyech have been in action for their respective nations…

Kai Havertz and Mykhailo Mudryk were both involved when Germany met Ukraine in a dramatic charity match in Bremen.

Mudryk started the game, which was the 1000th international played by the Germans who quickly took the lead. However Ukraine were 2-1 ahead by the interval and it was a Mudryk shot that deflected in off former Blue Toni Rudiger to put them ahead. It was put down as an own goal.

Havertz came on at the start of the second half but Germany fell further in arrears when Girona winger Viktor Tsyhankov netted his second of the game. Time was running out for the hosts but then on 83 minutes, Havertz latched on to the loose ball after his own flick-on and guided it into the net to make the score 2-3. Then in added time, Joshua Kimmich scored a penalty to end the contest all square.

Ukraine now play Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Malta. As hosts of the tournament, Germany automatically qualify so have further friendlies this month against Colombia and Poland.

Shortly after the Germany-Ukraine game, Hakim Ziyech captained Morocco in a home friendly international against Cape Verde. The match, which ended goalless, was a warm-up for Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa at the weekend.
