Chelsea winger Noni Madueke was on the scoresheet as England Under-21s secured a 5-1 victory over their counterparts from Azerbaijan in UEFA European Under-21s Championship qualifying.

Madueke, who netted in our FA Cup quarter-final victory over Leicester City on Sunday, was named in the Young Lions' starting XI by head coach Lee Carsley and struck England's second goal of the contest.

Jaden Philogene was the architect as he broke down the left and produced a cross that Madueke diverted beyond Azerbaijan goalkeeper Rustam Samiqullin.

Madueke played 75 minutes of the victory, which also saw Liverpool's Harvey Elliott score a brace, Philogene find the net, and Archie Gray strike. There was no Carney Chukwuemeka in the matchday squad due to a knock.

Also on England duty were several players from our Academy as the Under-18s faced Germany in the Pinatar Cup.

Harrison Murray-Campbell and Kiano Dyer started the 0-0 draw while Reiss Denny, Ishe Samuels-Smith and Tyrique George were introduced from the bench in the second half. England earned a bonus after winning a penalty shootout 5-3.

Elsewhere, Moises Caicedo wasn't called into action as Ecuador recorded a 2-0 victory over Guatemala. The midfielder was an unused substitute and watched from the bench alongside future Blue Kendry Paez.
