Mayra Ramirez played a key role as Colombia Women defeated Paraguay to secure a big three points in the Copa America.
The Chelsea forward led the line for Colombia at the Estadio Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda in Ecuador and put in a fine display, capped with a goal.
The game started at an electric pace with both sides on the target inside the opening quarter of an hour. Linda Caicedo netting for Colombia after 13 minutes before Paraguay hit back two minutes later through Claudia Martinez Ovando.
However, Colombia showed their dominance after the break and restored the advantage through Ramirez just before the hour mark.
The Chelsea striker received the ball from a throw-in, spun her marker before lashing into the far corner with a stunning finish.
That paved the way for Colombia to see the job out, with Caicedo adding her second and the team’s third before Leicy Santos wrapped up the points in injury time.
It sees Ramirez and Colombia move onto four points in Group B from two games, with their next fixture against Bolivia on Tuesday.
