It was a night where several of Chelsea's younger players were in international action, with Cesare Casadei and Diego Moreira both featuring in European Under-21 Championship qualifiers.

Casadei started once again for Gli Azzurrini in midfield and completed 90 minutes against Latvia.

The 20-year-old, who is spending this season on loan in the Championship with Leicester City, couldn't help Italy secure all three points, however. The contest ended goalless and Latvia sit top of Group A after two matches.

It was a better night for Portugal Under-21s as they defeated Andorra 3-0. Henrique Araujo, Fabio Silva and Tiago Tomas were on the scoresheet. Diego Moreira, who joined Lyon on loan on deadline day, was introduced in the 70th minute.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Eddie Beach was an unused substitute as Wales Under-21s recorded a 4-0 victory in a friendly against their counterparts Liechtenstein.

There was disappointment for our contingent of England Under-18s as they were beaten 4-0 by Japan in the Tournoi tournament. Harrison Murray-Campbell, Somto Boniface, Jimmy Jay Morgan and Tyrique George all started while Michael Golding was a second-half substitute.

There was one senior Chelsea player who could have seen action this evening but Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is on loan at Real Madrid, was an unused substitute as Spain recorded a 7-1 win over Georgia in World Cup qualifying.
