It was an entertaining start to England’s Nations League campaign as Lamine Yamal opened the scoring within two minutes under the arch after pouncing on a defensive error, before the Three Lions hit back as Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane both struck to put the hosts into a 2-1 lead.

After the break, Alex Baena levelled for the World Cup holders and, with 20 minutes left to play, Rogers was introduced by former Blues manager and current England boss Thomas Tuchel.

Although Spain had the final say as Mikel Oyarzabal restored their lead soon after, Rogers looked bright, working angles from both flanks and delivering an impressive cross which was turned behind for a corner.

Rogers could be in action once again on Tuesday when England head to Prague to take on Czechia in matchday two of the Nations League, with kick-off set for 7.45pm (UK time).
