As the international window came to a close on Tuesday, plenty of Blues were involved, with Mykhailo Mudryk playing the starring role as Ukraine qualified for the 2024 European Championship in dramatic fashion.

Our No10 produced in Ukraine's winner-takes-all qualifying play-off against Iceland, scoring a dramatic 84th-minute winner to help realise his dream of competing at an international tournament, sending Ukraine to this summer's finals in Germany.

Ukraine had fallen behind in Warsaw to Albert Gudmundsson’s stunning opener on the half-hour mark, before then having a goal ruled out on 41 minutes after a VAR review. But winger Viktor Tsyhankov superbly levelled as Mykhailo Mudryk’s side threatened a second comeback in less than a week, following their win over Bosnia & Herzegovina in the semi-finals.

Just as extra-time started to loom, Mudryk turned match winner - finding the Iceland goal with a low first-time shot after Heorhiy Sudakov’s cutback and sparking wild celebrations.

Elsewhere, Marc Cucurella was in action as his native Spain took part in a six-goal thriller against fellow international heavyweights Brazil in Madrid. Cucurella started on the left of a back four for the hosts and played the entire friendly, winning his second full cap.

Spain had raced into a two-goal lead after a penalty from Rodri and a Dani Olmo strike, but Brazil fought back with goals from Rodrygo and Endrick. A second Rodri penalty had looked to have secured Spain and Cucurella the win, only for Lucas Paqueta's 96th-minute spot-kick to see it end 3-3.

Meanwhile at Wembley, a trio of Blues were involved in the senior England squad as they faced Belgium.

Ben Chilwell started at left-back for the Three Lions, completing the full 90 minutes with a tidy performance, as an injury-time Jude Bellingham goal earned the hosts a 2-2 draw.

Both Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher remained on the bench as a Youri Tielemans first-half double put Belgium in control, despite Ivan Toney’s penalty, before Bellingham’s late intervention.

They weren’t the only Blues to feature for England on Tuesday, with Noni Madueke impressing for the Under-21s side in their Euros qualifying win over Luxembourg, providing two goals and two assists.

Madueke scored either side of half-time, as well as setting up both strikes from Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers in a 7-0 romp, finishing up the international break with three goals in two games. Carney Chukwuemeka was originally in the squad but had already returned to Cobham to work on his fitness.

Over in Amiens, France, Senegal took on Benin in an international friendly with Nicolas Jackson starting on the bench before getting a second-half run-out.

Centre forward Jackson would appear in the 64th minute, replacing Habib Diallo in attack, as Sadio Mane’s second-half penalty proved the difference, giving Senegal a 1-0 victory.

Earlier on Tuesday, Cesare Casadei returned to action for Italy Under-21s, after scoring the winner last time out, as they faced Turkey in Ferrara.

The Chelsea midfielder, who spent the first part of the season on loan at Championship side Leicester City, was in the starting line-up for the Azzurrini and completed the full 90 minutes as they drew 1-1 to remain unbeaten in qualification.

Elsewhere, full-back Genesis Antwi was also undertaking a youth football assignment with Sweden Under-17s, after finding the net in his two previous matches during this international break.

There was no goal for Antwi this time, but he did play the full 90 minutes as Sweden secured a point after a 1-1 draw with Romania, securing qualification for the 2024 European Under-17 Championship by topping Group 2.

Finally, two of our young Blues were involved for England Under-17s as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of France in Group 3.

Ollie Harrison started in midfield before he was replaced during the second half, while Ryan McAidoo was an unused substitute. Despite the defeat, England secured qualification for this summer’s finals in Cyprus, having won their previous two matches.
