In the game that saw a significant milestone hit for England, Morgan Rogers made sure the occasion was celebrated in style.

Rogers was named in the starting line-up for the Three Lions as they looked to make it three wins from three during this international window on Tuesday evening, when they hosted Czechia in the UEFA Nations League.

However, the spotlight was on Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, who was equalling the legendary Peter Shilton’s all-time record of 125 caps for England.

The home team had taken a first-half lead through a Vladimir Coufal own goal, but it was Rogers who made sure Kane got his name on the score sheet on the night, hitting a brilliant first-time pass across goal from Elliot Anderson’s cross-field ball for the captain to convert. It was Kane's 90th international goal, and surely one of his simplest, given the quality of the assist.

Kane would then add his second and England’s third of the night from a Lewis Hall corner to make it a comfortable 3-0 victory at the final whistle. That completed an impressive couple of weeks for the Three Lions and Rogers, who scored himself in the weekend’s 7-0 thrashing of Croatia.

He wasn’t the only one representing his country on Tuesday. As qualifying for next year’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship concluded, Geovany Quenda came off the bench to play the final 35 minutes of already-qualified Portugal’s 2-0 win over Czechia. Dario Essugo – currently on loan at Strasbourg – also featured for Portugal.

Josh Acheampong was an unused substitute for England Under-21s as they ended their qualifying campaign with a 3-1 loss away to the Republic of Ireland, but it was of little consequence with the Young Lions’ place at the tournament already secured.
