Marc Cucurella helped Spain all but book their place at next summer’s World Cup while Estevao Willian netted for Brazil as they defeated Senegal in a friendly in London.

Cucurella lined up at left-back as Spain raced into a three-goal lead by half-time in Georgia. Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring with a penalty and Martin Zubimendi and Ferran Torres added further goals before the break.

Oyarzabal headed in his second and Spain’s fourth on the hour as La Roja ran out convincing 4-0 winners to maintain their flawless record in qualifying.

Turkey’s victory over Bulgaria means Spain have not yet technically qualified for the World Cup - but it would require Turkey to win 8-0 in Seville on Tuesday to stop the European champions. That feels unlikely!

At the Emirates Stadium in north London, Estevao and Joao Pedro featured for Brazil in a 2-0 win over Senegal, while Andrey Santos remained on the bench as two sides who have already secured their place at the World Cup faced off.

Estevao started on the right of a Brazilian attacking quartet also containing Vinicius Junior, Matheus Cunha and Rodrygo.

He scuffed at a shot early on but made no such mistake on 28 minutes as the Selecao’s early dominance was rewarded.

The ball was deflected into Estevao’s path in the inside-right channel and his first-time finish was unerringly placed into the bottom left-hand corner. The shot whistled past our former keeper Edouard Mendy before he could react.

It was Estevao’s third goal in his last three Brazil appearances, and his fourth in 11 senior international appearances so far.

Brazil quickly doubled their lead, Casemiro finishing coolly at the end of a well-worked set-piece routine.

Nicolas Jackson was introduced early in the second half and he immediately forced an error from Ederson in the Brazil goal, but Iliman Ndiaye failed to guide the loose ball into the empty net, only managing to hit the outside of the post with his effort.

Joao Pedro was introduced with half-an-hour to go, before Estevao was brought off to a standing ovation ten minutes from time. Brazil next play Tunisia in Lille on Tuesday.

At youth level, England advanced into the last-16 of the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar with a 2-0 victory over South Korea.

Chizaram Ezenwata played 68 minutes, with two goals shortly before half-time doing the damage. A South Korean defender was fortunate to escape with only a yellow card having brought Ezenwata down as he raced clear on goal.

Reggie Walsh was an unused sub for Neil Ryan’s side, who will face Austria in the Round of 16 on Tuesday.

Jesse Derry scored a hat-trick in England Under-19s’ 7-0 victory over Latvia in a Euro 2026 qualifier. Derry had already won a penalty for the Young Lions when he blasted home to make it 3-0 in just the 23rd minute.

Either side of the hour mark in Lithuania Derry netted twice more to complete his hat-trick. He tapped in after a mix-up in the Latvia defence, and then finished expertly from the edge of the box to ensure he would be taking home the match ball.

Shumaira Mheuka was an unused substitute for England, who conclude their first qualifying round for next summer’s Euros with a game against Scotland on Tuesday.

Also at Under-19 level, Harry McGlinchey completed the game for Ireland as they defeated Cyprus 1-0 in a Euro 2026 qualifier.

Ireland scored the only goal in the 11th minute and held on to that lead to draw level with Kazakhstan in Group 1.

Calvin Diakite netted for England Under-17s in their 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast in Dubai. A delivery fell to the defender at the back post to open the scoring before the African side equalised 15 minutes from time.

Diakite played the full game while Mathis Eboue was introduced for the final 20 minutes.
