A total of 16 Academy players from our Under-18 and Under-21 squads have been called up to represent their countries during the September international break, showing the depth of talent across multiple nationalities.

Our Blues involved in England international duty have a busy September break, making the most of the pause in club action. The Chelsea Academy have 12 players away with England during this window, from Under-17s up to Under-21s, and there have already been plenty of moments to celebrate.

England Under-17s got off to a flying start with a 2-1 victory over Venezuela in Germany. The Young Lions had to come back from 1-0 down in a game which was twice halted due to reports of racism aimed at England players.

When play resumed, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen netted the winning goal. Schoolboy Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli started in midfield, with Mathis Eboue making an impact off the bench and defender Calvin Diakite named among the substitutes.

England Under-18s continued the success story, recording a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan in Spain. Chelsea were well represented, with Freddy Bernal in goal, Landon Emenalo in defence, Reggie Walsh starting in midfield and first-year striker Chizaram Ezenwata on the bench.

England Under-19s also got off to a winning start to their preparations for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship with a 2-0 victory against Ukraine. Shumaira Mheuka came off the bench to score the second, adding to our Under-21s striker’s impressive tally of five goals so far this season for club and country.

Looking ahead, England Under-20s - including Ted Curd, Harrison Murray-Campbell, Harrison McMahon and Ishe Samuels-Smith (who is loan at Swansea City) - will be in action on Friday 5 September against Italy in Chesterfield, with kick-off at 7.30pm UK time.
