Ahead of England's opening fixture of the Under-17 World Cup, we spoke with Hassan Sulaiman about what to expect from the six Chelsea players who will represent the Young Lions.

Sulaiman, our Under-18s head coach, knows the Blues' contingent in the England squad better than most. He has worked with each player in the Chelsea Academy, either last season or this term.

So for England supporters – and those who just want to get to know our youngsters better – here is what to expect at the tournament in Indonesia from Ted Curd, Ishe Samuels-Smith, Josh Acheampong, Harrison Murray-Campbell, Michael Golding, and Reiss Denny.

Ted Curd

'Ted is currently on loan at Hashtag United but has been a longstanding member of the Academy – and he has consistently improved each year.

'His call-up is a significant achievement and I'm pleased with his continual progress. Ted is a confident goalkeeper with a good range of kicking, remaining calm and making sound decisions in high-pressure situations.'

Ishe Samuels-Smith

'Ishe joined us in the summer [from Everton] and has displayed versatility as a left-sided centre-back and a left-back. He carries the ball with finesse and showcases composure on the ball.

'He is a reliable defender who excels in one-on-one situations. I'm confident that given the opportunity, he will undoubtedly showcase his abilities.'

Josh Acheampong

'Josh exhibits versatility in his positional play, primarily as a right-back but also as a centre-back.

'He is comfortable in possession – often breaking lines with his passes – and is ready to move forward to create goal-scoring opportunities when there is the opportunity. But he maintains defensive responsibilities with assurance.'

Harrison Murray-Campbell

'Harrison is a versatile defender with a solid understanding of the game – and he has impressively earned a World Cup call-up after only featuring in the last couple of England camps.

'He is comfortable with both feet in possession and is strong in aerial duels, Harrison has showcased his skills across the back four this season, and is another player who brings versatility to the squad.'

Michael Golding

'A central attacking midfielder, Michael thrives in tight areas, showcasing the technical ability that sets him apart. He can stretch defences with his runs and movement and confidently contributes to goalscoring and assisting.

'A consistent presence in previous England camps, Michael is a strong contender to take the captain's armband at the tournament because of his leadership qualities.'

Reiss Denny

'Reiss has overcome injuries with resilience and determination, emerging stronger and starting this season on a high note.

'A ball-playing midfielder, he fearlessly receives the ball under pressure and displays calmness and composure when breaking lines with precise passing.'
