Goalscorer Nicolas Jackson was delighted to etch his name onto the scoresheet in an important 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at the Bridge.

The Senegalese striker notched the Blues’ second after Cole Palmer had given Chelsea the lead after the break.

After opening the scoring, Palmer then played provider for Jackson, leaving the 22-year-old a straightforward tap-in to double the lead – his seventh in the Premier League this season so far.

Speaking after the win against the Blades, Jackson pointed to a tactical change as being crucial to the Blues’ success in the second half.

‘It was a good win,’ Jackson began.

‘We have been suffering a lot during this time, but with the help of our fans we take away the three points.

‘It was difficult because Sheffield United play defensively, but we had a plan after the coach changed the formation in the second half and we scored two goals.

‘The manager changed Sterling from playing on the outside to make it two up top and then we broke them down.’

He continued: ‘It was nice to be on the scoresheet today. There have been hard times and some criticism, but that is how life is.

‘Now I have scored I hope to continue to help us win more games and win for the fans.’

The forward saved particular praise for Player of the Match Palmer, after another impressive display in a Blues shirt.

Jackson added: ‘Cole was amazing today and is an amazing player. We are getting to know each other better and if you start winning, the winning ways will come back.’
