Lauren James and Sjoeke Nusken have both been nominated for the March Women’s Super League Goal of the Month award.

Both our nominated strikes come from the same game: an entertaining, end-to-end encounter against Aston Villa, which saw six first-half goals and the Blues eventually come away from Kingsmeadow as 4-3 winners.

James appeared to have put us in control against Villa with a fine strike that made it 3-1. The England international cut inside from the right touchline before smashing a shot into the bottom corner with her left foot from outside the box.

However, after Villa responded and levelled the game, it took a special winner from Nusken eight minutes from time to seal our victory. This time, the goal was a team effort, with Ellie Carpenter winning possession and Sam Kerr laying the ball for Nusken to place a shot inside the right-hand post.

Those two Chelsea goals are among the eight shortlisted for the March award, alongside: Caitlin Foord, Chloe Kelly, Beth Mead (all Arsenal), Ceri Holland (Liverpool) Anna Patten (Aston Villa) and Oona Siren (West Ham United).

The winner of Women’s Super League Goal of the Month is decided by a public poll, which is now open, so you can help one of the Blues take home the award by casting your vote here now.

The voting closes at 11am on Monday 13 April, before the winners of this and the rest of the March WSL awards are revealed three days later, on Thursday 16 April.
