As he begins his second full season in Blue, the Brazilian has made himself at home at the centre of Chelsea’s attack.

And what a start he has made to the new campaign. The 24-year-old registered a goal and an assist in our opening weekend win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, and repeated the feat in our first outing at Stamford Bridge: a 4-3 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

That takes Joao Pedro’s Premier League goals tally for Chelsea to 17, just two shy of what he managed in two seasons at Brighton. But look at his contribution across all competitions and the figures are even more impressive.

Since the beginning of 2026, no Premier League player can better Joao Pedro’s 15 goals in all competitions – and his strikes against Fulham and Brighton suggest he shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

His performance against Brighton in our first home league game of 2026/27 was arguably one of his best yet for the Blues, as he topped stats tables across the board and was voted by supporters on the Chelsea Official App as our Player of the Match.

A versatile forward when he arrived at Stamford Bridge, Joao Pedro has increasingly been used as the central striker in the Blues’ attack, currently spearheading an exciting front three alongside Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers in the early stages of Xabi Alonso’s reign.

That has seen Joao Pedro’s goalscoring instincts come to the fore as a penalty box predator, with all but one of his 15 goals in 2026 coming from inside the area – his stunning UEFA Champions League strike away at Napoli back in January the one exception.

There has been a ruthless efficiency to his game too: his 25 goals for the Blues better his expected goals total of 22.4, and he is averaging a goal every 162 minutes, better than one goal every two games.

When looking at the chances he has had compared to the goals he has scored, it gets even better, with a shot conversion rate of 22 per cent. Of his 115 attempted shots, 52 per cent have found the target, and of those 55 per cent have ended up in the back of the net.

It is not just his finishing that has been so impressive; his all-round game has been leading the way for Chelsea since he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

With assists factored in, Joao Pedro has 33 goal contributions in his 54 appearances for the Blues. The next best of our current squad are Pedro Neto and Palmer, with 21 goal contributions each during the same period.

Neto is also the only Chelsea player who can better Joao Pedro’s 66 completed dribbles, while there is athleticism and physicality to go with the silky skills and precise finishing. The Brazilian also tops our charts for duels won – 296 – 33 more than second-placed Moises Caicedo – and no current Chelsea player can match his 102 aerial duels won since the start of last season.

A true master of all trades then, but it's Joao Pedro’s prolific form in front of goal that continues to catch the eye in 2026.
