Chelsea is delighted to announce that Joao Pedro has signed a new contract until 2034.
The Brazil international joined the Blues in July 2025 and made an immediate impact, scoring in the Club World Cup semi-finals and final as we were crowned world champions.
Joao Pedro continued to be decisive in his first full season as a Chelsea player. He netted 20 goals in all competitions and ended the 2025/26 campaign as our supporters’ Player of the Season.
‘I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,’ Joao Pedro said. ‘I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club. Chelsea has a long tradition of winning and it has big ambitions for the future.
‘I have a very good relationship with everyone here at the club and I have felt at home here in London from the moment that I joined.
'Everyone is very excited for this season. We know we can achieve a lot of things, we have a great team, we have a coach who wants to win and has won already. I am fully committed, everyone is ready and hopefully we can achieve our targets.'
Signed from Brighton and Hove Albion, Joao Pedro quickly delivered for the Blues. He struck a brace against former club Fluminense to help us into the Club World Cup final, and then netted in our victory over Paris Saint-Germain as we claimed the trophy.
His goalscoring form continued into his first full campaign in blue. He netted our opening goal of the 2025/26 season, away at West Ham United, and later scored the only goal in an away win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Our new No.9 also had an impact on the European stage, with a fine brace netted in a victory over Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.
Joao Pedro ended the campaign with 20 goals scored for the Blues, which saw him overwhelming voted as our Player of the Season.
Congratulations on your new contract, JP!
