Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has been shortlisted for the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month award after helping the Blues collect maximum points over March.

Our Swedish international has been in excellent form throughout the campaign and was impressive in March, scoring in our 4-0 away victory at Leicester City at the start of the month.

Taking Jelena Cankovic's pass in her stride, Rytting Kaneryd produced a fine piece of skill in the Leicester box before her shot deflected home for our third goal of an excellent all-round display.

That victory saw Rytting Kaneryd claim her third WSL goal of the season, already trebling her total from the previous season with five games still to play.

The Blues midfielder was also instrumental in our crucial 3-1 win over title rivals Arsenal. She was involved in the build-up for Sjoeke Nusken's first goal and she produced a powerful run and shot that defected in off the same player for our third of the night.

Ahead of the season run-in, Rytting Kaneryd currently sits joint-top of the WSL assist rankings this season, with five to date.

Rytting Kaneryd is nominated alongside Manchester City duo Jess Park and Khadija Shaw, Elisabeth Terland of Brighton, Lisa Naalsund from Manchester United and Aston Villa's Adriana Leon.

The Swede could become our second player to claim the Player of the Month award this season with teammate Lauren James having picked up the title twice, in November and January.

Voting for Player of the Month is now open and the vote will close at 10am on Monday 8 April.
