Henderson, who spent last season with the Bees, signed for the Blues earlier in the summer on a free transfer. However, having broken his arm while away with England at the FIFA World Cup, his first outing in Blue has been delayed.

Tonight at the Gtech Community Stadium, Henderson will step out in a Chelsea shirt for the first time. And the midfielder is looking forward to introducing himself to the Blues faithful.

'Delighted to be back and have the feeling of getting onto the pitch,' Henderson explained ahead of this evening's Premier League clash with Brentford. 'It’s been a while, so I’m just excited to be back.

'It’s been a little frustrating [not being able to play], but I’ve tried to stay as fit as I can to be ready for this opportunity now. I’m just looking forward to it.

'It’s been good to settle in with the team over the last month, even though it’s been frustrating not playing games, but hopefully now I can get involved.'

Henderson's illustrious career has seen him play hundreds of games at domestic level, in England and abroad. His last 34 came with Brentford during the 2025/26 campaign, with the England international impressing for the Bees before his departure and eventual switch to Stamford Bridge.

It means that Henderson is well-versed in the threat Keith Andrews' side will pose tonight, and has outlined that the Blues will need to perform well to come away with a positive result.

He said: 'They’re a fantastic team who can play with the ball, are good on transition and are good in behind. So it will be a very difficult game, as we know, so we’ve got to be 100 per cent to get anything from the game.

'But if we can play the way we know we can, we will cause them problems as well.'
