The Dutchman has featured in every game under Xabi Alonso thus far, starting our Premier League wins over Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion at left wing-back and coming off the bench as we beat Luton Town in the Carabao Cup.

Those games all ended in victory; the most recent being our 4-3 win against Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. It was a game which could have gone more smoothly for the Blues, but as Hato makes clear, three points is three points, especially at this stage of the season.

‘It was a bit crazy,’ he said. ‘We scored a lot of goals and, of course, we're happy with the win, but we conceded three goals and I think that's something we can work on.

‘But, of course, if you concede three and you score four, you win the game. So, I'm happy about that.

‘It still matters, I think, because you want to win 4-0, not 4-3. But still, what I said is, if they score three and you score four, you did a good job.’

Hato got the assist for our third goal against Brighton, but it was the attacking contribution of our front three of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers which again caught the eye in the final third. That trio has nine goal contributions between them in our opening two league games.

‘I think they can find each other really well; they have a great connection,’ Hato added. ‘It's very important to have those guys up front. I think we are very dangerous with attackers on the bench as well, so that's something positive.

‘There's a lot of movement when we have the ball, runs in behind, coming into the ball. I think the connection between those three, and with me and Pedro [Neto] on the side, I think we did a great job.’

So far so good for the Blues, then, but next up comes another challenge as we travel away to title holders Arsenal in the Premier League for a 4.30pm kick-off on Sunday.

‘We look at things game by game,’ the defender concluded. ‘I think we had a great start. We spoke with each other and said: "Okay, the first week, three games has to be three wins," and we did that. So now we're looking forward to Arsenal.

‘I can't see the future, but we try to improve to not concede three goals, but we know we are very dangerous up front, that we will score goals.

‘I think against Arsenal is a good test, but I think it was against Fulham and Brighton as well. They are both great teams and we won those games, so we are looking forward to the next one now.’
