Having set the Blues on our way to victory against Port Vale with a goal barely a minute in, Jorrel Hato reflected on his FA Cup exploits this season and looked ahead to next weekend’s league meeting with Manchester City.

With just 64 seconds on the clock of our Cup quarter-final, Hato fired us in front with a left-footed strike from a partially-cleared corner.

It was the Dutchman’s maiden goal at the Bridge and it opened the floodgates as we went on to win 7-0, securing a spot in the semi-finals later this month.

‘It will be a dream come true to play at Wembley,’ explained the 20-year-old.

‘It’s always difficult [against lower league opposition in the FA Cup], but we played well from the back, the tempo was fast and we created many chances across the 90 minutes. We scored seven goals, so really it was the perfect game.’

Both of Hato’s goals in Chelsea colours have come in the FA Cup, and while Saturday’s effort wasn’t as spectacular as his strike at the Valley in the third round, it still meant a lot.

‘It’s my tournament, isn’t it?’ Hato said with a smile.

‘I was very happy to score my first goal [against Charlton] and now my first goal at Stamford Bridge, so I’m very happy.

‘It was a great result and we played great football. It’s a good way to come back after the international break.’

The Blues will be hoping to carry the positive momentum gained from a goal-laden Cup victory into our next fixture, which will no doubt offer a sterner challenge.

Manchester City are the visitors to SW6 in what is a vital league encounter for both sides. Hato hopes quality time on the training ground at Cobham this week will help our chances of victory in that one.

‘We have a week to prepare for the game, which is a good thing,’ he said.

‘They had a big win against Liverpool [in the FA Cup] so they are in good shape. We had a good win, so are also in good shape, and we will prepare ourselves to play a good game and to win.’
