Jorrel Hato is the youngest Chelsea player travelling to the World Cup having only turned 20 in March, and the Dutch defender cannot hide his excitement at the tournament ahead.
Hato spoke exclusively to us before heading to North America, where Netherlands will play Japan, Sweden and Tunisia in Group F.
Hopes are high for Ronald Koeman’s side, who were only beaten on penalties by eventual winners Argentina at the quarter-final stage of the last World Cup.
At the Euros two years ago, it needed a last-gasp Ollie Watkins winner to end the Dutch dream in the semis. With plenty of experience as well as exciting young players – such as Hato – many have the Netherlands down as dark horses to win the tournament for the first time.
‘If you look at the players we have, we have a big chance to win, so we will see,’ says Hato in an exclusive interview, which you can watch in full above.
‘For me, it would mean a lot to play at the World Cup. I didn’t know it was coming this soon. I’m still 20 years old.
'I still remember the moment I heard I was in the squad [for the first time]. I couldn't believe it.'
