Chelsea goalkeeper Katie Cox will spend next season on loan at Aberdeen.

The 19-year-old stopper has been a blue since joining our academy at the age of eight, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2021/22 and the PGA Cup the following season. In May of 2024, the young goalkeeper became the first-ever recipient of the Women’s Academy Player of the Year award.

After 10 years with Chelsea, Cox penned her first professional contract with the Blues in August 2024 at the age of 18, signing a two-year deal with an option for a third.

Last season, the stopper was named on the bench for Champions League matches against Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona, as well as featuring among the substitutes at the end of the WSL campaign against both Tottenham and Liverpool.

On the international stage, Cox has represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 levels. In the summer of 2024, she started every match as the Young Lionesses reached the semi-finals of the Women's Under-19 European Championship in Lithuania.

The goalkeeper now makes the move to Aberdeen, who compete in the Scottish Women's Premier League 1.

Everyone at Chelsea wishes Katie every success in Scotland, and we look forward to seeing her progress next season.
