Keech Hospice Care has won this season’s second Chelsea Foundation online charity poll, and will be holding bucket collections at Stamford Bridge before the game against West Ham United tomorrow.
There are four matchdays available throughout the season for bucket collections, so the charities have been broken down into different categories: children’s, medical, armed forces and community charities.
Thousands of you took part in the second poll, the medical category, with Keech Hospice Care coming out on top.
As a leading hospice charity, Keech Hospice Care provides free, specialist care for adults and children with life-limiting and terminal illnesses as well as vital support for their family and friends.
They are one of a very few hospice charities in the UK which supports and cares for both children and adults.
Their excellent care is provided wherever it is needed the most, be that at their home, hospital, the hospice, school or care home. The charity supports children and adults to live pain and symptom free, to spend untroubled time with their family and friends, to understand what is happening and to stay out of hospital and make the most of the time they have.
Chief executive officer at Keech Hospice Care, Liz Searle, said: ‘We are beyond thrilled to be the chosen medical charity for the bucket collection at the upcoming game at Stamford Bridge and we feel truly honoured so many voted for us.
‘We need to raise £6 million every year to provide specialist care for children, adults and their families and rely on our community’s support to raise 70 per cent of the funding we need each year to survive.
‘All our services are offered free of charge, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and any donations from the day will ensure we keep providing our services to our adults and children at a time they need us most.
‘Thank you for your support and for helping us continue making the different when it matters the most.’
Our first poll of this season took place earlier in the campaign with children's charity Shooting Star winning the majority of the votes.
