Kepa Arrizabalaga talks goalkeeping and how his early days in Bilbao helped shape his ideas on football in the matchday programme for tomorrow’s game.

The Chelsea shot-stopper has been in fine form lately and speaks candidly about his outlook on the team’s current situation, and his understanding of the rivalry with Leeds.

‘We’ve felt it,’ he says. ‘When we went away last season, I didn’t know if it was because it was a derby or maybe because they were in a really bad moment, but when we went there early in this season, we felt it again.

‘We won in the last minute here last season and, always, when the game has this feeling and this passion around it – this atmosphere – for a player, it’s a beautiful game to play.’

Kepa isn’t the only exclusive interview to feature, as we catch up with Chelsea supporter Paul Merson. He may be a man more associated with our north London rivals, Arsenal, but Merson reveals he has never given up his love for the Blues, even while winning titles with the Gunners.

‘That’s one of my pet hates in football, when I hear that players have switched allegiance to a team because they play for them or have played for a club and lost interest in the team they grew up supporting,’ he tells us.

‘Don’t get me wrong, I love Arsenal. The way the fans treat me, even today, I love it. It’s the one Chelsea game – home or away – that I can never go to as I wouldn’t want to be disrespectful to Arsenal fans by celebrating when we score. But I’m Chelsea.’

With the manager and captain’s columns, all the latest from Chelsea Women and the Academy, plus the regular historic features and the stats centre too, the programme remains the ultimate matchday companion.
