Before Chelsea’s first Premier League game of the season against Crystal Palace, we take a detailed look at the notable facts and figures related to both teams and the history of this fixture.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace head-to-head

Chelsea are unbeaten in our last 15 Premier League matches against Crystal Palace (13 wins, two draws), our longest current run against any of the 19 other sides involved in the 2025/26 campaign.

Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the corresponding fixture last September ended a run of 13 consecutive Premier League defeats against the Blues. We drew for the first time since 1995, bringing an end to a 26-game run in the league without the two sides finishing level.

The Eagles’ last win against Chelsea was in October 2017 at Selhurst Park, while they last left Stamford Bridge with three points earlier that year. Both were 2-1 wins.

The Eagles have conceded at least once in each of their last 22 Premier League games against Chelsea, in a run stretching back to 2014.

Last season Crystal Palace avoided defeat against Chelsea both home and away in a single league campaign for the first time since 1991/92.

Chelsea stats

Chelsea will begin the 2025/26 season only 35 days after our Club World Cup victory in New Jersey, marking our shortest-ever break between seasons - two days fewer than the Covid-affected 2019/20 and 2020/21 campaigns.

This is the club's 34th Premier League season, and the 21st time we have begun the campaign at Stamford Bridge.

It’s the 15th time we have opened a league season with a London derby and the first time ever we’ve started a campaign with four consecutive games against teams from the capital. We’ve won all four opening day derbies in the Premier League.

Premier League opening day derbies

2000/01: West Ham United (h) W 4-2
2002/03: Charlton Athletic (a) W 3-2
2016/17: West Ham United (h) W 2-1
2021/22: Crystal Palace (h) W 3-0

Chelsea are unbeaten at home in the Premier League since Fulham won here on Boxing Day. We have won eight and drawn two of our ten games since then.

Chelsea have scored in 31 of our last 32 Premier League home matches, netting a total of 73 goals. The only exception was a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend of last season. We haven’t lost on matchday one in consecutive campaigns since 1997/98 and 1998/99, which both came against Coventry City.

We have won nine of our last ten matches across all competitions, and are aiming for a sixth consecutive win.

Only Manchester United (22) have won more matchday one games in the Premier League than Chelsea (20).

Before the opening weekend, Chelsea and Aston Villa each had 27 players who scored on their Premier League debut - the most of any club.

We had a club record 22 debutants in 2024/25, one more than the previous campaign.

Across the last three Premier League seasons, Moises Caicedo has made more tackles (305) and won possession more times (677) than any other player.

Following goals against Fluminense and Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup, Joao Pedro could become the first player to score in each of his first three starts for Chelsea in all competitions since Diego Costa in August 2014.

Nicolas Jackson is serving the third and last match of his domestic suspension following the red card received at Newcastle in May.
