We return to Plough Lane to take on European opposition in our first league phase game of the competition on Wednesday night, looking to put three points on the board at the first opportunity.

The midweek fixture comes off the back of Women's Super League wins against Manchester United and Birmingham City, where we scored a combined seven goals without reply.

Austria Vienna have qualified for the Champions League proper for the first time this season, and Walsh and Bompastor gave us some key information ahead of the clash.

On our first league phase match...

Sonia Bompastor: It's really exciting to start tomorrow, and we are all ready. I think we have the quality in the team, in the squad, to win this competition. The season will be long. We know we also have a really competitive league here in England.

Keeping the players available and fit to perform in any fixture will be a good idea for us. I think it's too soon and too early in the season for us to talk about going all the way through, even if the ambitions are there and we want to do that.

We are focusing right now on having a strong start tomorrow. We are playing a home game, and that's really important for us to start with a good performance and a good result.

Keira Walsh: It's a massive competition. It's part of why I joined. I think the club's ambition and my ambition is the same: to win the Champions League. But as Sonia said, it's a really difficult competition. Teams are getting better, and it's a very difficult period for us with these games we've got coming up as well.

I think the ambition is still there to win it, but I think we've got to take it a game at a time, and you've got to try and compete across three trophies. It's difficult.

On Austria Vienna...

SB: The game plan is ready. We know the spaces we can use tomorrow on the pitch. We probably also know how we can hurt them. But we have a lot of respect for them because every game will be difficult.

We know they are coming tomorrow with no pressure. They are the underdogs, so they have nothing to lose, and it's important for us to be ready. So we are going into the game confident, but not too confident, just the right level.

KW: I just prepare for every game the same, whether I know who I'm playing or whether I don't. I think, as Sonia said, they're obviously a good team. They qualified for the Champions League.

For me, it's our first game at home, and we want to win it. We go in with the same mindset and mentality to just go win the game.

On the blossoming partnership between Walsh & Lexi Potter...

SB: Lexi was performing last season as well. It was just on me to make the decision. She's playing alongside Keira. So they both look good when they play alongside each other. I'm lucky to have two really good English players in those positions.

KW: It's not normally my role to try and get in the box and score. I think when Lexi's playing alongside me, she makes me feel really comfortable, and she gives me the freedom to go and do those things. We've got a great partnership, and I think that's probably where most of my confidence comes from.

I'm in the box, and I'm trying to arrive and make a difference that end, and I know that she's gonna sit and have my back at the other end. I think for me it's probably mostly about that.
