Sonia Bompastor faced the media at Cobham ahead of our Women's Super League clash against Tottenham on Sunday, and here are the key talking points from what the Blues head coach said.

Our players have all returned from international duty unscathed, and Bompastor confirmed she has a full squad to choose from for Sunday's match.

We face a Spurs side that has enjoyed a largely positive start to the campaign, winning three of their opening five games. However, they did succumb to a heavy 6-1 defeat against London City Lionesses before the international break.

The Blues, meanwhile, are looking to maintain our unbeaten start to the season, which has put us two points behind early WSL leaders Manchester City.

On Tottenham...

'We are playing them at kind of the same time as last season, when they were in a run of really good results. They had a good summer transfer window; they brought in really good players.

'Martin (Ho) is a really good coach, so we are expecting a tough game. We also know if we play with our quality, we can bring some challenges to them.

'I watched their game against London City. It was maybe one game where things didn't go the way they wanted, and it happens. I'm expecting a team that will bring us some challenges.'

On whether the WSL is already a two-horse race...

'It's been the case in recent seasons that as soon as you start to drop points, it's not a good sign, because teams are performing. So every game is important, especially in this league.

'You need to make sure you stay at the top as long as possible. We know the game on Sunday will be tough, especially after the international break.

'You need to make sure you bring everyone back to your game model and that everyone is connected to the way we want to play as a team.'

On Lexi Potter's England debut...

'Lexi is doing well. I was glad she made her debut with England in the last game. I watched the game, and she is a player who is really confident with the ball, and she works really hard without the ball. I could see that with England as well.

'It's never easy to start for your country, especially when you play at home, and your family and your friends are at the game. It was great for her to get that exposure, and now it's really important for Lexi to keep working the way she's been working.

'She deserves everything that is happening to her. I know she's really humble, and she doesn't like to bring too much attention to herself. So please don't put too much pressure on her and keep her quiet – I think that's the best way she will continue to perform!

'She was pleased to come back to our environment, and I was pleased to see her again. She's back at a good level. She did well in this morning's training session.'

On maintaining momentum...

'We were in a really good place before the break. The main goal for us as a team and with the staff is to make sure we reconnect really quickly with the game model. We reconnect the players and staff together to perform at the same level as we were performing before the break.

'That's what we did yesterday and today. We have one more day tomorrow to prepare for the game, and I'm confident the players will have a good performance on Sunday.'
