Frank Lampard today conducted his first Cobham training session as Chelsea head coach, in glorious conditions at our Surrey training base.

After spending the first few weeks of his tenure in Ireland and then Japan, it was a welcome return home for Lampard and his players as they continued the pre-season graft ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The spirits were high at Cobham, as were the temperatures, with the heatwave that's currently hitting the UK continuing. Plenty of water breaks were needed, as Lampard and his staff put the players through their paces.

It also represented a first visit to Cobham for Christian Pulisic, who joined up with the Blues in Japan following his move from Borussia Dortmund, and he looked sharp throughout.

There was more positive news, with midfielder N’Golo Kante taking part in some of the session, after returning to London early from our trip to Japan to receive treatment on a troublesome knee injury.

The hard work will continue tomorrow, as the Blues step up the pre-season preparations ahead of our latest clash, which sees us travel to Reading on Sunday.

You can watch the game at the Madejski Stadium live, either via this website or our official app. Full details on how to sign up for the game can be found here.

Following the Reading game, Chelsea have two more fixtures to end our pre-season programme. We travel to Austria to face RB Salzburg on Wednesday 31 July, before we then play German side Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday 3 August.

The Premier League campaign then gets underway, with a tasty opening-day fixture against Manchester United at Old Trafford to look forward to.
