Levi Colwill was full of praise for team-mate Cole Palmer following our emphatic 3-1 victory over Liverpool.

Three crucial points were gained in the battle to secure Champions League football on Sunday, when Enzo Fernandez, a Liverpool own-goal and Palmer’s penalty gave Chelsea an unassailable lead at the Bridge.

And Colwill, alongside his fellow defenders, was hugely important in keeping the likes of Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota at bay in a patient and composed performance defensively against the newly-crowned Premier League champions.

With that defensive work giving us the platform to attack regularly, our No. 20 was at his creative best at the Bridge and sealed the win late on.

While his goal put the finishing touches on a thrilling win, Colwill was keen to highlight Cole’s consistent influence beyond the scoresheet.

‘It was great for him to be able to secure the game,’ Levi opened. ‘We want him to score.

‘He deserves it, he’s been the best player almost every single game, even if he doesn’t provide the goals or assists. It meant a lot to him and it made us all happy.’

With a top-five finish still within reach, Colwill believes our performance against the Reds proved how important the Stamford Bridge support has been this campaign.

‘It pushes us over the line,’ he added.

‘Times when we’re stuck in a low block and we’re defending, it gives us that extra belief and that extra man to try to not concede.

‘Every game is a final from now on. We all know that and we’re excited to get into the games.’
