Liam Rosenior has praised the travelling Chelsea faithful for their support during our Premier League clash with Arsenal – and reflected on the return of Blues midfielder Romeo Lavia from injury.

It proved a frustrating afternoon at the Emirates, as we fell to a 2-1 defeat against the current top-flight leaders. Arsenal broke the deadlock midway through the first half when William Saliba headed home from a corner, but we went into the interval level after an own goal from Piero Hincapie.

The Blues were the better side for much of the second half, yet were undone once again from a set-piece as Jurrien Timber headed home from close range. Pedro Neto was sent off soon after and, despite late pressure, we fell to defeat.

Rosenior and his players made sure to applaud the Chelsea fans who had made the trip across London after the full-time whistle. It was recognition for their efforts across the 90 minutes.

He said: 'They were top – top from start to finish. It felt in the second half that I could only hear them up until we gave the [second] goal away.

'We know what an amazing fanbase we have. We want to make them proud and give them a lot of good things in the future.'

The support of the travelling Chelsea contingent was not the only positive. The return of Lavia, who had not featured for the Blues since our Champions League clash with Qarabag on 5 November, was also highlighted by Rosenior.

'He came on and showed what he’s about,' explained the Chelsea head coach. 'It’s brilliant for him, even though we lose the game, to get back on the pitch. He showed a really high level.'
