Liam Rosenior has confirmed Cole Palmer is in contention to feature in our Champions League clash against Napoli – and outlined the plan for Romeo Lavia after the midfielder's return to training.
Our final league phase fixture takes place at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona tomorrow evening, and the Blues are looking to seal a victory that could ensure direct progression to the Round of 16.
Palmer was absent from our victories over Pafos and Crystal Palace due to a thigh issue, but has travelled to Naples. And Rosenior outlined in his pre-match press conference that the England international is ready to face the Serie A side.
Also included in the Blues' travelling party is goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who was absent from our 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Romeo Lavia hasn't made the trip but was involved in this morning's training session at Cobham. The Belgian international has been sidelined since our 2-2 draw with Qarabag in early November and will be carefully managed back to full fitness.
'Obviously, his recent history has not been what he's wanted in terms of minutes on the pitch and his health,' Rosenior explained.
'Romeo is an outstanding player and has the potential and ability to be a world-class midfield player when he's back and if he stays fit. So we're taking it really, really carefully with him.
'He has to clear a few more hurdles to train fully, but it's great to see him back with the players today. I know his qualities and I know what he can bring if we can keep him fit. I'm very excited to work with him.'
