Liam Rosenior has provided an update on Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens and Filip Jorgensen's chances of featuring for Chelsea against Arsenal.
Chelsea make the short trip across the capital to the Emirates Stadium tomorrow evening to take on Arsenal in the second leg of our Carabao Cup semi-final, needing to overturn a 3-2 deficit from the first game at Stamford Bridge to book our place at Wembley.
Speaking to the media ahead of that game on Saturday evening, Rosenior was asked whether he will be able to call upon Estevao to boost our chances of reaching the final. The Brazilian teenager missed the weekend’s win over West Ham United after being given permission to return home due to personal reasons.
‘I don't know yet,’ admitted Rosenior on Saturday. ‘’With Este, he's a young kid who's come and been magnificent.
‘He's going through a really difficult time for personal reasons and he's on compassionate leave. I won't put any pressure on him.
‘It has to be right for him and he has to feel he's in the right place to perform for this team.’
Another winger whose place in the squad for tomorrow’s meeting with the Gunners is uncertain is Gittens, who was forced off during the first half against West Ham after pulling up with an injury.
‘Jamie unfortunately felt his hamstring, I don't know the extent of the injury,’ continued the Chelsea head coach.
‘It's a real shame for him because I wanted to give him a start and I wanted him to show what he could do.
‘So, for him to come off after 25 minutes is disappointing for him and hopefully it's not too bad.’
Finally, Rosenior provided an update on Jorgensen’s recovery, after the goalkeeper was absent for the Premier League wins over West Ham and Crystal Palace.
‘He's close. He's close to being fit and hopefully it'll be either Arsenal or the game after this.’
