Liam Rosenior has confirmed Romeo Lavia will feature against Wrexham this weekend, although the game comes too soon for Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens.

The Blues head to the Racecourse Stadium for an FA Cup fifth round clash with Wrexham, with a place in quarter-finals of the competition we last won in 2018 up for grabs.

Wrexham, to their credit, have already knocked out Premier League opponents in Nottingham Forest and Championship promotion-chasers Ipswich Town, so Rosenior knows this will be a tough game and while he’s hinted at rotation, he will be selecting a strong side to take on the Red Dragons.

That will include Lavia, who our head coach confirmed will feature, but Estevao and Gittens won’t be risked as they both close in on a return to action.

‘Estevao is back on the pitch, but he is not quite ready for this one,’ Rosenior told the gathered media at Cobham.

‘He just needs to clear a few more markers first, and we need to be careful with him given he’s had a hamstring injury. It will be a big boost to have him back with the group.

‘Elsewhere, Jamie Gittens is getting really close [to a return] and he had a really positive scan. We hope that he can be back with the group within the next seven days or so.

'In terms of from the Aston Villa game, there's no injuries from that, which is fantastic.'

When asked if Romeo Lavia was ready to play from the start, Rosenior replied: 'Yeah. I am delighted for him. Romeo will definitely play a part and he'll play a huge part for the rest of the season.

'We all know his attributes. He’s been itching to play but we’ve tried to build him in the best possible way. But yes, his chances will come and he's definitely going to play in these next few games.'

Rosenior was also asked whether Liam Delap could be handed a start tomorrow evening, after he led the line in our last FA Cup tie – a victory away at his former side Hull City.

‘Liam is absolutely fine [following his hamstring injury] and in his last game, he got three assists [vs Hull],’ added our head coach.

‘When he gets his opportunity, I expect him to take it, as I do with all the players. He will get his opportunities in big games.’
