Scoring a superb individual goal and creating our second of the afternoon at Selhurst Park, Estevao Willian again showed what a talent he is. Liam Rosenior believes carefully managing the young Brazilian on and off the pitch is vital for his development.
Estevao showcased his speed, composure and finishing ability to open the scoring against Crystal Palace. The Brazilian raced through from inside his own half before thundering his shot past Dean Henderson.
The 18-year-old then had a big hand in the goal that put us 2-0 up, deftly releasing his compatriot Joao Pedro with a first-time pass. It crowned another eye-catching all-round performance.
‘He is a player with special abilities, special talent,’ said Rosenior. ‘He’s been ill but every time he’s been on the pitch so far with me he’s been outstanding.
‘Off the pitch, I know his family are here with him and the club have worked really hard to help him settle. I also know Andrey Santos and Joao Pedro have helped him settle into this country.
‘On the pitch, with any 18-year-old, you have to manage his minutes, and manage the games which you think are the right moments for him to have an impact.
'I’ll keep doing that because I want him to have an outstanding season, and I want him to have an outstanding career as well.’
