Liam Rosenior says Cole Palmer felt some ‘tightness’ before tonight’s Champions League contest against Pafos, and as such is not included in our match-day squad.
We welcome the Cypriot side to Stamford Bridge in our penultimate league phase game, as we look to take an important step towards automatic qualification.
Rosenior’s line-up revealed six changes from our 2-0 victory over Brentford in the Premier League, including the absence of Palmer, which our head coach explained pre-match.
‘Cole felt a little bit of tightness in his thigh,’ he opened.
‘He just misses out, but he should be absolutely fine for Sunday. I’ve got to manage the squad as best as possible and make sure we are fit throughout the season with the sheer amount of games we’ve got in a short space of time.’
Another change from the weekend is the inclusion of Filip Jorgensen, with our head coach emphasising his confidence in the Danish goalkeeper.
‘I think tonight is the perfect opportunity for Filip to continue his form,’ Rosenior added.
‘I was very impressed with him away at Charlton, and he deserves this opportunity. I walked into the group and said I trust them, I’ve done my homework on each player, and I want to give them maximum opportunities to show what they can do.’
