Liam Rosenior believes 'the pain' the Blues have endured in our last four matches will prove beneficial in the long-term, with our head coach reiterating our ambition remains to win silverware ahead of our FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale.
The Blues welcome the Valiants to Stamford Bridge today, kick-off 5.15pm in SW6, with a place in the semi-final of the FA Cup – a competition we last won in 2018 – awaiting the victors.
While our League One opponents sit at the foot of the third tier, Rosenior isn’t taking the game lightly and expects a tough challenge from the Staffordshire side. However, our head coach also sees this tie as a great opportunity for us to return to winning ways and springboard our season.
‘I want to focus on a massive game tomorrow where if we win, we can make an FA Cup semi-final,’ Rosenior told the gathered media at his Friday press conference. ‘And I want to focus on us still making the Champions League, which is a big possibility.
‘We want to win. No matter what the competition is, we always want to win. It's not about me, I've said that before. It's not about me winning silverware. It's about this club being successful now and in the long term.
‘To do that, you have to go through difficult moments. You learn a lot about the characters in your group. And I'm talking about the characters, not just in the playing staff, but the support staff, coaching staff, and myself.
‘You have to go through these processes, this pain, to make sure you make good decisions moving forward.’
