Malo Gusto missed the two recent cup matches through injury and Liam Rosenior has provided the latest on the Frenchman ahead of the visit of Brentford on Saturday.

Gusto has featured in 19 of our 21 Premier League matches so far this season but looks set to miss out against the Bees because of discomfort he is feeling.

Rosenior confirmed Gusto did individual training at Cobham on Thursday, but the head coach is not able to say when he expects the 22-year-old to be available for selection again.

‘I can't put a time frame on it, because there is no time frame,’ Rosenior said.

‘It's more of a pain issue, so when he feels comfortable, that's when he'll be back with the group.’

Another player yet to feature under Rosenior is Dario Essugo, but that could change imminently.

The Portuguese midfielder, who came off the bench for us in three Club World Cup games, underwent surgery on his thigh in September. He returned to the matchday squad at Charlton and was also an unused substitute against Arsenal.

Rosenior explained why that was the case, and confirmed he expects to welcome him back onto the pitch soon.

’He was very close to coming on against Arsenal,’ said Rosenior.

‘Actually, I called him to come on and I changed because other things had happened in that timeframe. Physically some of the other players were tiring and I felt I needed to keep Enzo [Fernandez] and Andrey [Santos] in the middle of the pitch because Enzo was outstanding, and Andrey in his own way was very good.

‘Dario's close. I'm aware of his abilities, I'm aware of his strengths, but I want to give him the best possible moment to show himself in the best way coming back from a long time out because he is a very good player.’
