Liam Rosenior has been left ‘so impressed’ by Enzo Fernandez since being appointed Chelsea head coach, with the midfielder showcasing at Cobham and in games why he is a ‘winner’.
The 25-year-old has featured in each of Rosenior’s three matches in charge, twice from the start and once from the substitutes’ bench, and registered a goal and two assists.
Fernandez began our victory over Brentford on Saturday, which marked his 25th birthday, and fashioned, albeit somewhat fortunately, Joao Pedro’s opener.
The Argentine played 85 minutes before being replaced and helped ensure we secured our first Premier League win since December 13.
And after the victory, Rosenior was asked how he had found working alongside our No.8. The Blues head coach replied: ‘So impressed. I knew what an outstanding player he was and I was actually at the World Cup final when he played.
‘But it's not until you see a player up close and you get to know him and what he's about, and I have to say he's a winner. The reason he always plays is that he trains 100 per cent.
‘I've enjoyed working with him and it's his birthday, so I told him to go to a steak house and enjoy some Argentinean steak. He is a magnificent player. More importantly, he's a fantastic character and I love having him in this team.’
