As part of the Pride in our Bridge campaign, Chelsea Football Club recently opened its doors again to the local community to host our second-ever 'residents day'.
Billed as the Chelsea FC Local Champions Day, the club invited local organisations to present their work to the community, and celebrated their contributions to the area as local champions.
This event built on the success of the club's inaugural residents' event, the Chelsea FC Residents Open Day, which took place in June last year. This latest occasion featured many of the organisations from the first Open Day, along with several new faces.
It offered residents the opportunity to connect with key organisations in their area which offer a range of support and activities. We were joined by a dozen organisations, including mental health charities, local journalists, youth clubs/youth support services, foodbanks, homelessness charities, local emergency services and more. Each pitched a stall in the Drake Suite in the West Stand to showcase their work.
Over 250 residents were invited to attend the event free of charge, which also included lunch and a complimentary stadium tour for the first 100 residents who applied to attend.
Ethan Windsor, residents relations officer at Chelsea FC, said: 'I am delighted that Chelsea Football Club has been able to build on the Residents Open Day of June last year, to bring another exciting event to the local community. The Pride in our Bridge campaign is all about celebrating local champions, and how much the local area benefits from the work of such a diverse range of organisations. It was a pleasure to celebrate this success, and I would like to thank all of the community organisations that took part for giving their time to attend this event.'
As ever, the fulfilment of these events would not be possible without the active participation of the local community, particularly through the Pride in our Bridge focus group and key local contributors. The club looks forward to continuing to host such events for our neighbours.
