Speaking after another incredible comeback win for the Lionesses, the Blues defender spoke of a ‘rollercoaster of emotions’ that saw England reach their third consecutive major tournament final.

Bronze was an integral part of the side that won the Women’s European Championship on home soil in 2022, reached the 2023 World Cup final and has now made it to the last two at Euro 2025.

The 33-year-old has started every match for England in this year’s tournament and has played 120 minutes in back-to-back knockout ties against Sweden and then in last night's 2-1 semi-final win over Italy.

‘It hasn’t really sunk in for me, to be honest,’ smiled Bronze. ‘Just a rollercoaster of emotions, trying to stay focused for 120 minutes to make sure that we didn’t let Italy back in the game.

‘I can imagine once I’m in the dressing room, once we’re on the bus, and we get back to Zurich, it’ll sink in that we’ve made it to another final.’

Once again, England came from behind to pull off what had seemed impossible, as Michelle Agyemang scored in the fifth minute of injury-time to take the match to extra time, and Chloe Kelly’s goal, after her initial penalty was saved, won the tie with three minutes of the 120 remaining.

Hannah Hampton was called upon to make major saves for the second game running, pulling off a crucial double stop to keep the Lionesses’ Euro hopes alive. Bronze was keen to emphasise England’s strengths when asked what the comeback showed about the character of this side.

‘Everything,’ she replied. ‘I don’t think you’ll find a team in world football with more fight and more resilience than this England team. To come back and to never give up on this game, the same as we did in the previous game, to fight to the end.

‘I think we scored with 30 seconds left in normal time, kept our dreams alive, and then to finish it in extra time as well was just unbelievable.’

England will face either Spain or Germany in Sunday’s Women’s Euro 2025 final in Zurich.
