The Chelsea vice-captain, who wore the armband in the absence of injured skipper Erin Cuthbert, was awarded the Player of the Match award for another heroic performance in the backline.

Bronze won both of her tackles, made three key interceptions and attempted the most passes of any Chelsea player on the evening with 71.

The experienced defender explained exactly how tough it was to claim a point from high-level opposition on the night, and was pleased overall with the outcome of the match.

'We dominated possession of the ball, especially in the first half,' Bronze said afterwards. 'We played out their press well, but I think they had some good counter-attacking moments.

'They were on top at the end of the game, but that's what happens when two top teams play against each other - the momentum swings.

'Both teams had a chance to steal a goal and maybe steal a win, but I feel like a draw at this time of the season for both teams is probably not the worst thing.'

The Blues come off the back of an intense week, where we had to fight for a win against a tenacious Austria Vienna side last Wednesday, before claiming another 1-0 victory in a fiercely contested London derby against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

With that in mind, Bronze was keen to praise a mammoth effort from her team-mates to come through this period unbeaten and with no goals conceded.

'It shows what a tough battle it was today if a defender's getting it!' she said after being told she had been selected as the official Player of the Match. 'As a team, we worked our socks off.

'I'm proud of every single one of us, especially considering we played a really tough game three days ago. We then had to fly to Lyon after that, so to put in a shift like today, I'm really happy with what we've done.'
